Leeka Kheifets
Dr. Leeka Kheifets is a Professor of Epidemiology, UCLA School of Public Health. She was Head of the Radiation Studies Program at the World Health Organization. She is widely known for her work in environmental and occupational epidemiology and has over 150 publications. Dr. Kheifets serves on international and national committees that provide advice to governments on environmental policy. She was a member of the International Committee of the Swedish Radiation Protection Authority (SSI). She has served on committees for the National Academy of Sciences, IEEE, and NCRP. Dr. Kheifets is part of ICNIRP Scientific Expert Group. She has also participated in EU EMF-Net reviews. Dr. Kheifets was a member of the NIEHS, the IARC and WHO Working Groups charged with evaluating potential health effects from EMF exposure. Her research interests include epidemiology of cancer, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, and methodologic research in risk assessment and policy development.
